UYL U19 Young Boys 2-3 Atalanta

Sidibe with a brace and a goal by Lozza

On matchday 5 of the 2021-2022 UEFA Youth League Group F, the Atalanta Primavera beat Young Boys 3-2 at the Sportpark Wyler in Bern thanks to Sidibe’s double and Lozza’s overhead kick.

In the opening minutes, Sassi was forced to make a save on Appiah’s close-range shot and the hosts took the lead on 25 minutes thanks to a Berisha free-kick into the top corner. One minute later, Sassi had to pull off another save to deny De Donno from doubling Young Boys’ lead. After a poor effort, Sidibe scored the equaliser on 37 minutes, as he won the ball and fired into the far bottom corner.

Young Boys restored their lead in the opening minutes of the second half thanks to Appiah’s header. However, their lead only lasted five minutes as Sidibe won and converted the 2-2 penalty. Chiwisa had the chance to give Atalanta the lead in the 65th minute but fired over, then Bernasconi skimmed the post with an angled drive. Young Boys also had the opportunity to restore their lead through J. De Donno, but Sassi charged down his shot. The Nerazzurri turned the game around in the 83rd minute thanks to a great goal from Lozza, who turned Oliveri’s cross from the right into the net with an overhead kick. Atalanta played the final minutes of the game down to 10 men as Bernasconi was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
