Atalanta B.C. announce the signing of footballer Matteo Lovato from Hellas Verona on a permanent deal.
Born in Monselice on the 14th of February 2000, Matteo is a centre-back who stood out as one of the best young players in the Serie A league last season, shining out with the Verona shirt. He started his football career at Padova with whom, after a spell also in the Genoa youth teams, he made his senior team debut in the 2019-2020 season in Serie C. Despite his young age, in his first season among professionals he played 17 games all as a starter in the first half of the season, earning the attention of Hellas Verona who decided to sign him in January. He made his Serie A debut with the Scaligeri club on 18 July 2020, featuring as a substitute in the match’s final minutes drawn against Atalanta at the Bentegodi.
Last season he played another 24 games in the top flight and earned the call in the Under 21 national team with which he made his debut in November away to Iceland. He also competed in the European Championships, playing three games between group stage and quarter-finals.
Welcome, Matteo!
