Atalanta B.C. announce the signing of footballer Teun Koopmeiners from AZ Alkmaar on a permanent deal.
Born in Castricum on 28 February 1998, he is a left-footed midfielder. Among his qualities, the Netherlands international has proved to have a remarkable feeling with goals in his career, as well as great flexibility, having also played as a centre-back.
He spent thirteen years at AZ Alkmaar, where he grew up and became the team’s captain at the age of 21. He made his first team debut in October 2017 against Feyenoord and has since played 154 games in just over four seasons, quickly becoming a key player of the team. He combined goals (43, of which 33 in the last two seasons with a personal best of 17 overall goals in the last season) and assists (17) with his appearances. In recent years, he has also gained important international experience, both at the club and international level. With AZ, he made 25 appearances (and 7 goals) between the UEFA Europa League and qualifiers (both UEL and UEFA Champions League).
On 10 July 2020, he then made his debut for the Netherlands senior national team in a friendly against Mexico at the Amsterdam Arena and was also called up to the senior team for the World Cup qualifiers. Previously, he had represented the Netherlands at various youth levels up to Under-21s, with whom he also played in the last European Championships.
And now, this new experience in Italy in the Nerazzurri shirt awaits him.
Welcome, Teun!
