Atalanta B.C. are delighted to announce the signing of the player Rasmus Højlund from Sturm Graz on a permanent basis.
Born on 4 February 2003 in Copenhagen, Højlund is a left-footed striker who is physically strong, technically gifted and has noteworthy finishing skills. He is considered one of the most interesting and promising talents of his generation in European football.
Despite being only 19 years old, he has already shown significant qualities. As a 17-year-old, in 2020, he made his debut for Copenhagen, the club where he grew up and which launched his professional football career. The following season he also shone on the European stage with two goals in the UEFA Conference League round, plus three in the qualifying games. Halfway through the season, he joined Sturm Graz at the end of January 2022. In the Austrian Bundesliga, he impressed with a brace on his debut against WSG Tirol and four goals in his first three matches. In just over three months, he scored six goals in thirteen appearances. He also got off to a strong start this season, contributing three goals and two assists in the first five matches. For example, he bagged the brace that enabled Sturm Graz to beat Red Bull Salzburg 2-1 at the end of July. On 9 August, he also netted the goal in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League 3rd qualifying round that took the match against Dynamo Kyiv to extra time. He registered 12 goals and four assists in 21 league and cup games during his time in Austria, from February to August.
Rasmus plays his international football for Denmark and has represented them at various underage levels. He made his debut at the age of 15 in the Under-16 team, then continued his journey in the Under-17s and Under-19s sides until his recent call-up to the Under-21 squad, with which he played three matches in the qualifying round for the European Championships last June.
Welcome, Rasmus!
