Atalanta B.C. announces the signing of footballer Jérémie Boga from Sassuolo on a temporary transfer with the obligation to make the deal permanent.
Born in Marseille on 3 January 1997 to Ivorian parents, Jeremie is a skilled forward with great technique and pace, who can dribble past the opponents: according to a recent Opta statistic, he is the player with the most successful dribbles in Serie A in the calendar year 2021. Being right-footed, he has often been lined up on the left to then burst into the box and get the shot away, making the most of his skills when one on one. However, he can cover different positions in the attack.
He came through Chelsea’s youth system, which he joined as a youngster. He immediately showed his great potential there, also starring and winning the UEFA Youth League (with 4 goals scored in six games and two decisive assists in the final against Shakhtar Donetsk). He was named on the bench of Chelsea’s final game in 2015 when he was 18, before being loaned to Rennes and Granada. In France and Spain, although very young, he immediately earned some space and gained some professional experience making 53 appearances in the two top flights and also scoring 4 goals (one of which was against Barcelona). Then he return to England for a spell at Birmingham City before being signed by Sassuolo in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has played 98 Serie A games in the Neroverde shirt, having scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists, thus showing his qualities also in the Italian league.
Jérémie is also an Ivory Coast international, with whom he made his debut in June 2017 during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea. More recently, in September and October, he took part in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers also finding his first international goal in the 3-0 victory over Malawi. He is competing in the Africa Cup of Nations at the moment, after which he will be able to begin his spell at Atalanta.
Welcome, Jérémie!
