Life is unpredictable. It offers you important opportunities when perhaps you least expect it. The same happened to Valentin Mihaila, who officially became an Atalanta player. After putting pen to paper to sign the contract that ties him to Atalanta, the Romanian forward gave his first words as a Nerazzurro.

“Yes, yesterday I was in retreat with my teammates at Parma and I had to start against Crotone and now I’m here, I’m very happy.”
Born on 2 February 2000, Valentin is considered to be one of the most interesting young athletes in Romanian football. He is a quick forward with great technique, who can cover several positions offensively.
“Valentin Mihaila is a player who likes to play with the ball, to play it quickly. These are my features. Then I like to play with the team.”
He joined Parma in October 2020 and scored 4 goals in 17 appearances overall in his first season in Italy.
“Yes, when I came [to play] here, it was my first real game in Serie A, as I had made my debut against Torino, featuring for 10 minutes and then we came here and I played for 80 minutes against Atalanta. I think Atalanta are one of the greatest teams in Serie A. I think these guys can do a lot of good things also this year, as they have quality and also have the ability to win the Scudetto, to play in the Champions League and European competitions. There are very strong players here.”
Giuseppe Pezzella joined Atalanta from Parma a few months before him.
“[Giuseppe Pezzella] recommended me to run a lot here, to be quiet and work hard as we work our socks off at Atalanta.”
He’s young, eager to learn and improve and he wants to do it wearing the Nerazzurri colours.
“My goals are to play a lot of minutes, to play well and to prove/show that I’ve got the potential to play for Atalanta and to be signed permanently by Atalanta in the summer transfer window.”
The fans greeted him and welcomed him via social media.
“I’ve received a lot of messages from the fans. Hopefully, I can show them that I can play here.”
