UCL: BSC Young Boys in focus

The Swiss from BSC Young Boys will be Atalanta’s next opponent in Group F Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday 29 September at 18:45 CEST at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

Berner Sport Club Young Boys is a football club, headquartered in Bern, the capital of Switzerland. The Club can boast a century-old history as it was founded in 1898. They are the reigning Swiss champions. The Club won their fifteenth title last season, the third consecutive one: they dominated the League, having gained 84 points and having become champions with seven games to spare. Their palmares count seven Swiss Cups, one League Cup and one Supercup at the national level. Not to forget their extraordinary display in the European Cup in the 1958-1959 edition when the Swiss Club managed to reach the semi-final. They played in the UEFA Europe League last season, reaching Round of 16.

Starting from this season, the team’s coach is the German-American David Wagner who is fresh from his coaching experience at Schalke 04 in Germany.

Young Boys have currently reached 11 points in the League, having played 6 fixtures: they achieved a 6-1 win at Losanna in the latest round. On Saturday they are facing St Gallen in a home match. The Club had to overcome three UCL qualification rounds, having eliminated in order Slovan Bratislava, CFR Cluj and Ferencvaros. Moreover, they had a great start in the Group stage, beating Manchester United 2-1 in the opening match, gaining 3 points and, thanks to this success, they are leading Group F.
