The new season has officially begun also for Under-16s, as they met today at the Bortolotti Training Centre. The first day was dedicated to tests for Covid-19 provided for by the health protocol and athletic tests for the team that will see players born in 2006 in it. Stefano Lorenzi will coach the side, who is fresh from his spell with the Under-18 team.
“I am happy, first of all, because this will be my tenth season here as a coach of the youth teams. Considering my career as a footballer, therefore more than half of my life, I have spent 22-23 years at Atalanta and I am honoured by this. Coaching U16 makes me even more enthusiastic. This category requires a different type of work than coaching 18-year-olds, who have almost reached the end of their growth path in the youth sector. And it is even more gratifying to try to impress our values, Atalanta’s values, to younger players who still have a lot to learn in all respects. Our job will be to be able to get the most out of them and to make them play in the best possible way”.
An important season is beginning for this group after the forced halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic: “Last year they could only do test matches, I also want to get to know them and start a growth path with them”.
