In the first match of the 2021-2022 Serie A, Atalanta get the first three points of the season by winning 2-1 at the Olimpico Grande Torino stadium in Turin thanks to a late winner from Roberto Piccoli.
The first half saw the Nerazzurri take an early lead in Turin through Muriel, who cut inside and hit an absolute rocket into the top corner in the 6th minute to officially score the first Atalanta goal of the season. Despite leading and creating a few chances, Torino pushed hard looking for an equalizer and forced a clearance off the line from Pessina and some great saves from Musso, who always got himself ready.
The second half was very demanding and after a few efforts, Torino’s pressure paid off and the hosts found the equalizer through Belotti, who came off the bench and made it level by looping a strike over Musso into the far top corner after the shot took a deflection off Mæhle. After some other desperate clearances and a few other goalscoring chances, the Nerazzurri restored their lead with a very late Piccoli winner after he was set up by Pašalić and claimed a crucial win.
