Atalanta won 5-2 at the Ennio Tardini in the match against Parma, who were relegated to Serie B in the last round of the league, thus getting three important points for their table. The result was clear but nothing is taken for granted in football and even coach Gian Piero Gasperini confirms it: “These matches are not easy”.
Here is the interview with the Nerazzurri coach.
“They always say that these games are easy but they’re never easy. You always have to play them. The team did well, the players did extremely well actually. But in these final matches, the weather changes, there’s much more fatigue, much more pressure and stress. But we have an important bench, we have many players that can do well. We’ll face this period with a great boost and great confidence”.
Malinovskyi scored in the first half, then Pessina and Muriel came on in the second half to finish, especially Pessina’s goal.
“Yes, Miranchuk as well. I’m happy because this attitude, this behaviour is fundamental. I’ve said many times that we don’t just have the players who are in the Starting XI. I have to tackle this mentality too often. The same goes for those who are subbed, it’s not that their performance was poor. It’s because we have some players, especially at this moment of the season with this frequency of games… Those who come on have undoubtedly an advantage if they have the right mood and the right form when they come on, as there is a significant drop during the match compared to a while ago”.
Your heads are on Benevento right away, as the mini-tour de force has begun and it’ll continue until the end of the season.
“Yes. Today we claimed three points, tomorrow we’ll start again. We have a few more days until Wednesday’s evening. It’s clear that all games are important. It’s easy to say that we have to win, we know it. We have to provide strong performances, quality and good mental and physical shape. We have to recover our energy because we’ll face a team who will give their all”.
