The preliminary round took place on Saturday 7 August, but the 2021-2022 Coppa Italia officially kicked off on Friday 13 August with the first matches of the round of 64. Atalanta, the fourth seed, will enter the competition at the Round of 16 (on 12 or 19 January).
The Nerazzurri’s potential opponent in the round of 16 will be the winner between Venezia and Ternana, as Venezia beat Frosinone on penalties (1-1 a.e.t., 8-7 on pens) on Sunday 15 August, while Ternana beat Bologna 5-4 away on Monday 16 August. The Round of 32 fixture will take place on Wednesday 15 December, with kick-off at 18.00 CEST.
As for the other seeds, Napoli are on the lower side of the draw and have number 5 (with a possible meeting in the quarterfinals), while Juventus and Sassuolo are on the upper side (with a possible meeting in the semifinals).
