After the success of Turkish defender Merih Demiral in March, this month the title goes to a forward: it’s Luis Muriel to win the ItalianOptic Player of the Month for the first time this season!
First, he unearthed a gem against Leipzig in the Europa League: the Colombian forward rushed through two opposing players and smashed a strike into the top corner. Last but not least, the penalty he converted against Torino by sending Milinkovic-Savic the wrong way to make it 4-4. In this way, Muriel became an undisputed leader of the game with 2 goals and 2 assists, amassing 5 goals and 3 assists in total in April, making it a fantastic month for the Colombian forward. The Player of the Month ItalianOptic award is well-deserved!
It wasn’t an easy win for Muriel, though, as in the final round he had to fight hard against another indisputable protagonist of last month. Obviously, we’re talking about Mario Pašalić. In the past month, the Croatian midfielder got back to scoring ways after getting the opener against Venezia and inspired Atalanta’s comeback against Torino. With these crucial goals, Pašalić proved to have had an excellent season so far as well as the best season in terms of goals. So, let’s give applause to Mario, a shortlisted candidate for the POTM for May.
Let’s give a round of applause to Mario and congratulate Lucho on winning the title!
