The 2022-2023 season has officially kicked off for Marten de Roon. This will be his 7th season at Atalanta. The Dutch midfielder’s desire and enthusiasm are always at their highest: “We can’t wait to restart”.
THE OFF-SEASON
“The holidays went very well, I relaxed a lot. For the first time in many years, I had five/six weeks to rest because I had the surgery. I enjoyed my family and the Netherlands, I’ve been there for two-three weeks. I’ve seen my friends, my family and relatives. Then we went to the seaside, in Sardinia, it’s always good to go there with the family. I swam and ran after my daughters. Now I’m ready to start again, I’m pumped”.
HIS RECOVERY
“I’m doing very well. The first week after the surgery was a bit annoying, and then I recovered. I followed a specific recovery program made by Atalanta and I look fitter than the others. I’m good, I recovered quickly and I’m eager to start. I missed the ball, now it’s time to start again. We want to prove several things this year, and I can’t wait”.
HIS 7TH SEASON AT ATALANTA
“It’s my 7th season [at Atalanta] already, time flies. I’m glad I’m still here. I’m doing well here, my family also like it here. There have been some changes, with a few new directors. There is a great desire, we can’t wait to start”.
THE CLUB’S GOALS
“Our goals are always the same. As our President always says, we have to avoid relegation first then we’ll see. We want to prove that last season’s second half was very tough. We want to prove that we can start the first round of the league the same way we did in recent years”.
THE LEAGUE AND THE NEW SEASON
“The league gets tougher and tougher every year, as all teams reinforce themselves and look for better players, they improve. We are improving too, tough. It’ll be a good battle, we have to be at our best to have a good campaign. For the first time [in a while] we won’t play in European competitions. So, we will focus exclusively on the league and then we’ll have the Coppa Italia from January, which has always been one of our most important targets”.
