Juan Musso’s first words as a nerazzurro

It’s been a month since his move to Atalanta was made official. In that month, there was a victory in the Copa América with the Argentina national team and a well-deserved vacation. Today was Juan Musso’s first day at the Bortolotti Training Centre in Zingonia. Today his new adventure at Atalanta officially began.

“It was a very intense month and it was an immense joy to have won the Copa América. Then I went on holiday, which was fair enough after a demanding season. I was looking forward to coming and training here, getting to know the sports centre, the stadium, the fans which they told me very well about, therefore I’m happy.”

He has already seen a bit of Bergamo, which he greeted with a post on Instagram.

“I managed to walk around the city a bit. Bergamo is a beautiful town from what I got to see. I visited Città Alta (the Upper Town), I walked around the city centre. It’s a beautiful city where I’ll be doing very well.”

Football is going through odd seasons, which are very demanding, with many fixtures, which are often close to each other. So it will be this season too.

“It will be another demanding season, with many important fixtures altogether. Atalanta can have their chance in all of them. The Champions League is a magnificent competition, which I’ve always dreamt of playing. This is a very important step for me and I’ll give my all. It’ll be a tough season, but hopefully, we can count on our fans, which is important. We are very excited and we can’t wait to see what’s next.”

A goal to defend and a sheet to be kept clean: in 2020 (calendar year), Juan Musso was the king of the clean sheets.

“I like to prepare myself as best as I can and do whatever it takes to be at the top of my performance. As for clean sheets, in my opinion, it depends a lot on teamwork. Hopefully, I can help the team to concede as few goals as possible, but I know it depends a lot on teamwork and I’m willing to do it.”

Football was not his favourite sport, since Juan Musso started playing basketball as a child.

“When I was a kid, 7-8-9 years old, basketball was my favourite sport, it’s true. Since I got into the goal, I liked it there, I felt that was my place and football became my favourite sport since then.”

Today, with a Copa América on board, he is ready to defend the Atalanta goal.

“I’m ready to defend the Atalanta goal. It’s a team I’ve always looked up to since I arrived in Italy, and I said it several times before arriving here as well. I like the way they play and face every challenge, every game. So, I’m very happy to be here and I’ll give my best to bring results home and then, in the end, we’ll see.”
