On matchday 6 of the 2021-2022 Serie A TIM, it ends 2-2 at the stadium Meazza against the champions of Italy at the end of a thrilling match.
It was an uphill start as Inter broke the deadlock in the 5th minute with Martinez’s volley from a Barella cross. Malinovskyi saw a few of his effort being blocked and warming up his left foot, but de Roon skimmed the post with a great shot. That preluded the equalizer, which came through Malinovskyi, who curled a scorcher into the top corner. And Atalanta took the lead in the 38th minute when Malinovskyi hit another rocket, Handanovic beat that away but Toloi was there to tap the rebound in and to make it 2-1.
The second half was even richer in chances. After only three minutes, Malinovskyi was first denied by Handanovic and then Palomino skimmed the post with a header. On 51 minutes Malinovskyi’s free kick bounced off the post. Inter reacted with Vecino, who tested Musso before the hour mark. Shortly after, the Argentine goalkeeper beat Barella’s poisonous cross-shot away and Lautaro did not manage to tap the rebound in. In the 72nd minute, Dzeko scored the equalizer for Inter, as he turned Musso’s rebound from Dimarco’s shot in. In the final minutes, it was end-to-end stuff and Iličić severely tested Handanovic in the 82nd minute. Inter were awarded a penalty on 86 minutes (handball by Demiral), but Dimarco fired the spot kick onto the crossbar. Two minutes later, Piccoli beat Handanovic with a lightning-fast turn. It would be the winning goal, but it was ruled out as V.A.R. showed that the ball had previously crossed the goal line. It ended 2-2 at the Meazza.
