He arrived on Friday, signed the contract that ties him to Atalanta, and Gian Piero Gasperini has already named him in the squad that travelled to Verona: here are also the first words as an Atalanta player of the young Danish talent Rasmus Højlund.

“I’m very happy to be here, as Atalanta is a big club and, as you said, a lot has been going on over the last few days but I’m very happy to be here now”.

Several clubs were interested in this young talent, but he decided to join Atalanta.

“[I like] the playing style and also there have been a lot of good players coming through Atalanta’s Academy and other players coming to Atalanta and going to the next step. I want this club to succeed and hopefully, I can help with that. I’m fast, I have a lot of power I think have a good finishing with my left foot. Hopefully, I can score a lot of goals here. I like to see myself as a positive-minded guy, and I always try to be happy. I’m also very targeted, I want to achieve my goals and that’s also why I decided to come here”.

Football is a family affair.

“It means a lot to me. It runs through my family. I have two younger brothers who also play football at a high level and my father did that before us. We are very focused on football”.

He was impressed by Atalanta, but not only.

“I’ve seen the fans are very nice and the club too. The city also looks nice. I was there yesterday and it also looks very nice. I like everything right now”.

He’s young but has clear ideas, including the goals to be achieved.

I like to take one game at a time. Hopefully, I can be part of the team tomorrow and then we will see. I hope that we can qualify for European football again”.

Atalanta fans have already welcomed him via social media.
