Hans, how important is for a Dutch to win here at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

“It’s truly amazing, I think we put in a great performance. We needed two results and we’re really happy that we won here”.

The first half ended 0-0, in the second half they tried to press a bit more, but Atalanta prove themselves.

“I think the first half was awful, it wasn’t a nice first half, but the result was ok for us. They had to score at least one, but I think the goalkeeper had the ball all the time in the first half, but it was an okay result for us”.

Hans, in the first half you studied each other, you feared each other.

“Yes, we all knew that they play, they have quality, they have their own style of play, so do we, but we knew that we could always be dangerous on the counter. We actually scored on the counter and we knew there was always going to be space in the back, among their defenders, they were always open and that’s how we scored”.

Atalanta progress, go through to the Round of 16, hence you’re still among the best teams in Europe.
