Gosens, a wingback with a scoring habit

He plays as a wing-back, but he has the tally of a scorer. Since Robin Gosens arrived in Bergamo in the summer of 2017 from Heracles Almelo, he has never stopped growing, season after season, game after game, day by day. Twenty-one goals and eighteen assists in the 128 games played in the Nerazzurri shirt: one game out of three has seen the German score or provide an assist.

A story that began in a historical and prestigious setting such as Goodison Park, with a brilliant left-footed finish from distance against Everton in the Europa League. He then returned to Liverpool last November and scored again, this time at Anfield and against Liverpool, in a Champions League victory destined to have a prominent place in the Club’s history forever. These are just two of the beauties of a tally that has grown richer year after year.
The double-figure reached last season with ten goals overall (and eight assists) seemed to be the top that made the Nerazzurri number 8 one of the most decisive and incisive wingbacks on the European scene, but the statistics did not take into account Robin’s desire to improve. The wingback’s performance shows that he’s able to aim even higher and dream of beating his own record. He has already scored six goals this year (and provided as many assists) when the football season has now reached the halfway point.
