Two major awards were given to Massimo Biffi and Pierluigi Gollini by APPORT (that stands for the Italian Association of football goalkeeper coaches) as the best goalkeeping coach and the best goalkeeper of Serie A respectively for the season 2019/2020.
APPORT have named the best representatives of the two categories for the twelfth season. In particular, the award was given to “the best goalkeeper of the league of Serie A and Serie B and to the goalkeeper coach who had a major impact on the performance of the goalkeeper trained by him in Serie A and Serie B”.
The votes were received through a ballot which was sent by the members of the APPORT and through a poll carried out by all the currently practising professional goalkeeping coaches. Only one contestant for Serie A and one for Serie B could be chosen by the voters as the best goalkeeper and the best goalkeeper coach. The calculation coefficient that was introduced for the final calculation was based on the type of vote.
Massimo Biffi won this special title, gaining 47 points and leaving behind Alex Brunner of Udinese and Massimo Cataldi of Hellas Verona while Pierluigi Gollini took first place gaining 56 points and leaving behind Samir Handanović of Inter and Juan Musso of Udinese.
