Gian Piero Gasperini: “We did well for all 90 minutes”

Spezia v Atalanta post-match interview

Gian Piero Gasperini is satisfied with his lads’ performance at the Stadio Picco. Atalanta won 3-1 and gained three crucial points for the European spots. “We did well for all 90 minutes” – as the Nerazzurri coach said.

Gian Piero Gasperini, it was not a foregone conclusion to win, Atalanta did it and did it well in the end.

“Yes, we did it well. It was a difficult game. Spezia are a good team and they’re still fighting to remain in Serie A but we had a very good 90 minutes”.

You produced a strong 90-minute display, even playing in quite strong sunshine, in the first heat of the season.

“Yes, but we held out well in that respect too. Our shape was good until the end. Those who came on did very well too. We delivered a good performance and claimed three important points”.

Coach, this is Atalanta’s twelfth away victory. What you can’t get at home, you get it away.

“Indeed. We claimed 12 wins out of 18 away, and we’ve still got one to play. The away streak has been extraordinary”.

Atalanta are still there, chasing Europe.

“We will try to grasp all our opportunities until the last minute of the last match. It’s a tightrope walk to the end. Sunday’s match is also crucial”.

This league is difficult, this is demonstrated by the fact that there have been no final verdicts, other than the four teams qualified for the Champions League.

“It’s a difficult league indeed, and it has become even more difficult in the second half of the league. Not just for us, but for all teams, as many of them have dropped points. That’s because the mid and lower-ranking teams got results on all pitches. This shortened the gap between the teams”.
