It’s the day before the TIMVISION Cup – Coppa Italia – final between Atalanta and Juventus, coach Gian Piero Gasperini spoke, as usual, the day before the match and referring to the Juventus team said: “They’re a valuable opponent”. Here is the interview with the Nerazzurri coach.
“We are fresh from a Champions League qualification achieved last Saturday at Genoa. On the one hand, this gave us serenity, as we had achieved a fantastic goal and on the other hand, it puts us in the conditions to play this final at our best”.
What did the Genoa match teach this Atalanta side?
“You always learn from every game. The Genoa match seemed to be easy in some respects, but when you switch off, you run the risk of turning any game around in a short time. This is yet another lesson we have learnt”.
The time has finally come for Atalanta-Juventus is the TIMVISION Cup final, the Coppa Italia final: what sort of game do you expect for tomorrow? It’s a one-off match, above all.
“We’ll see it on the pitch. We’re up against a very strong opponent. They have very strong players. Maybe their league campaign wasn’t as exciting as the others they had, but the value of the team remains the same. We know we’re facing a quality opponent, but this is a great boost for us, as winning this kind of matches gives the Cup even more value.”
There won’t be many, but the fans are starting to return to the stadium.
“This is a huge sign, finally. Hopefully, we’re all moving in the right direction because the fans are a key component of football and the matches. They are already a show themselves. Hopefully, stadiums can open to even more people.”
