On 25 February in 2017, Napoli hosted Atalanta at the San Paolo stadium (which had that name back then). The two teams had a six-point difference and sat 3rd and 4th respectively on the table. Napoli were the favourites but had to deal with Mattia Caldara: the centre back from Scanzorosciate (Bergamo) bagged an incredible brace and Atalanta got to winning ways in Naples after about 5 years (11/04/2012).

2. Napoli 2-2 Atalanta, 30/10/2019. In which minute did Iličić score?

It was a hard-fought match at San Paolo, a midweek fixture of the 2019-2020 Serie A Matchday 10. Napoli took the lead twice and were pegged back twice by Remo Freuler’s and Josip Iličić’s goals: the Slovenian scored minutes before the end of the match (86′) and equalised the game.

On Easter, Monday 22 April 2019, while in the race for a Champions League spot, Atalanta travelled to Napoli, hunting for the victory that would allow them to catch Milan on the table. In the first half, Napoli got dangerous plenty of times, with Gollini having to come to the rescue, and took the lead with Mertens. In the second half, Atalanta turned the game around, equalising first with Duván Zapata and then with Mario Pašalić scoring the winner.

On 11 April 2012, Atalanta, who were already leading, had the pleasure of winning comfortably at San Paolo. Bonaventura opened the scoring in the 10th minute but after several minutes Lavezzi equalised for Napoli. In the second half, it was captain Bellini to score the goal and make it 1-2, while Carlos Carmona defined the 1-3 scoreline with a scorcher from outside the box.
