Atalanta gave it all away to Empoli and ended the season suffering another home loss. In spite of the result, the fans encouraged, cheered up and thanked the team. CEO Luca Percassi praised the supporters: “Starting over with our fans”.

CEO Luca Percassi, it’s a pity we weren’t able to say goodbye to this fantastic public with a different result.

“It’s true. It might reflect the last three months or two months and a half when Atalanta put in a lot but might have gained less than we deserved. Of course, it’s crucial that we have this fantastic public that tonight showed, in each stand, how much they care about Atalanta. So, it’s important to restart with them”.

Atalanta are out of the European competitions after five seasons. Will it be a year in which to start over?

“Yes. The truth is that we’ve already started over. Or better, we tried to start over in each transfer window and in each season. We know who we are and we know our roots. We know what our Club represent. We surely must be satisfied with what we’ve achieved. We must be capable of measuring ourselves against others and fight hard”.

All in all, Atalanta played in the Europa League for two seasons, and in the Champions League for three seasons. It’s a pity Atalanta haven’t been able to qualify for European football.

“It’s obvious. It’s obvious because you got used to it. Fortunately, each time, whatever match or competition we had, we enjoyed it to the fullest. So, we were able to get to know the charm of European football. We must try to win it back”.

We have some regrets about this season. Was there something good to remember about this season?

“We have regrets. I honestly think we’re responsible, as, obviously, we made some mistakes in the last three months. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have gained less [than usually]. There are a number of reasons. We must be able to analyse everything coldheartedly. We’re disappointed at the same time. But it’s our responsibility to start over in order to do well. Atalanta are strong. Atalanta are backed by the fans who showed how much they care again tonight. We must consider these values”.
