ATALANTA-ROMA 2-1

A very important victory took place on the twenty-fourth match day of the 2019-2020 TIM Serie A at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo: 2-1 against Roma in a come-from-behind win and an advantage on the fifth in the standings that now amounts to six points.

At the 9th minute Papu is immediately dangerous, Pau Lopez deftly narrows the goal-mouth moving outward. At the half-hour mark a twisting shot by Iličić: the ball lands outside. Toloi nearly scores with a spectacular overhead kick but the ball goes just wide. Shortly before the half-time break, Roma gets the advantage with Dzeko who steals the ball on the three-quarter, flies to the Nerazzurri area and beats Gollini with a precise and delicate right-footer goal.

In the second half, the Nerazzura team reacts immediately to take advantage of the draw: a corner formation with Djimsiti who frees Palomino at the second post and the Argentine defender deftly deflects the ball into the net doing a split. Atalanta ups the pressure and at the 9th minute first Hateboer (Fazio saves) and then de Roon (the strike is just off to the side) come close to overtaking Roma. It’s 2-1 at the 14th minute with Pašalić: the Croatian midfielder takes only twelve seconds from when play resumes after coming onto the pitch to replace Zapata, to set up a wonderful right-footed swerve shot beneath the corner of the goalpost. This is the goal that decides the match because the 2-1 score holds until the end. Now it’s time to concentrate on Valencia.
