Atalanta 3-1 Torino

On matchday 4 of the 2022-2023 Serie A TIM, Atalanta win 3-1 over Torino at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo thanks to a Koopmeiners hat-trick.

There was great emotion before kick-off, as Iličić was greeted by the applause and affection of the whole stadium.

Then the game. The first shot on goal was by Torino with Linetty within two minutes, which was smothered by Musso. The first Atalanta chance came on 8 minutes as Toloi’s shot was deflected wide of the post. Then it was Koopmeiners who tested Milinkovic-Savic’s gloves on 16 minutes and the Granata goalkeeper also smothered Zapata’s shot at goal in the 27th minute. On 32 minutes, however, it was the post that denied Demiral, and two minutes later Seck’s shot also bounced off the crossbar (although he was offside). Atalanta lost Zapata to injury and Gasperini replaced him with Højlund, who made his Atalanta and Serie A debut. Soppy was brought down in the box by Aina and Koopmeiners coolly sent Milinkovic-Savic the wrong way from the penalty spot to break the deadlock in injury time.

The second half opened in the same way as the first one, with Koopmeiners scoring again, this time with a shot from the edge of the box that was slightly deflected by a defender. In the 66th minute, captain Toloi almost scored a third, but he smacked the crossbar with his volley. The Granata responded with Linetty on 75 minutes, but the outcome was the same, as his shot went onto the crossbar. Torino pulled one back in the 77th minute through Vlasic. But in the 84th minute, Lookman was brought down in the box by Lazaro and Koopmeiners completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot. Atalanta bring their points tally to 10 and join Roma at the top of the table.
