After a left-foot attempt by Scalvini and a few finishes from Coulibaly, it was a Freuler strike to test Sepe on 19 minutes. Salernitana took the lead in the 27th minute, as Ederson found the back of the net from Djuric’s pass. The Nerazzurri tried to pile on the pressure looking for an equaliser, but Zapata only grazed Zappacosta’s cross from the left with a header.
In the second half, the first chance was for the visitors, with Bohinen shot parried by Musso. Then it was Palomino to nod inches wide from a corner. However, it was Salernitana to threaten again on 51 minutes with a Coulibaly header that forced a save off Musso. The Nerazzurri kept pushing hard but Salernitana defenders held out. Sepe parried Mæhle’s scorcher on 65 minutes and Malinovskyi fired off target with his left foot in the 77th minute. The equaliser arrived in the 88th minute when Malinovskyi kicked long for Pašalić, who beat the offside trap and fired into the far bottom corner to make it 1-1.
