2020-2021 review: Ruslan Malinovskyi

He finished the season on a high, as it ended with goals and assists in double figures. The cover of Ruslan Malinovskyi’s 2020-2021 season was the goal of a historic victory over Juventus: 43 games played in all competitions (36 in Serie A TIM, 4 in the UEFA Champions League, 3 in the Italian Cup), 10 goals scored and 12 assists provided.

He was the best assist provided of the league according to the Lega Serie A statistics. He was the protagonist of an incredible run that began on March 21 with a 2-0 victory at Hellas Verona with a goal and an assist: from that game, he either scored a goal or provided an assist for eleven consecutive games in all competitions, with a record of 7 goals and 9 assists. The two goals he scored against Juventus stand out: the one that brought a victory back to Bergamo that had been missing in Serie A for twenty years, but also the one in the Coppa Italia final, which had temporarily made it level.

Then the official Lega Serie A statistics about the league: 1967 minutes played, 8255 km run on average per game, 62 shots taken (third in the team ranking), 23 goalscoring chances created, 22 key passes (second in the team ranking, fifth in Serie A), 43 ball recoveries, 53 fouls suffered.

Finally, Ruslan’s important personal achievements, who won the MVP of the month award for May by Lega Serie A and he was named three times (in March, April and May) as the Player of the Month, the award given by the Nerazzurri fans through the votes on our official social channels. At the end of the season, he got the call-up by the national team of Ukraine with whom he is playing at EURO2020.
