It was a long and intense season that he lived as a protagonist and in which he achieved important goals, both individually and as a team. The 2020-2021 season gave Rafael Toloi great satisfaction: 43 appearances in all competitions (31 in the Serie A TIM, 8 in the Champions League and 4 in the Coppa Italia) and 2 goals scored, those in the victory at home against Fiorentina (3-0 on matchday 11) and the one over Benevento (4-1 away on matchday 17). The latter was particularly important, as it restored the lead with 20 minutes to go. In addition to the general statistics, there are the official stats of Lega Serie A about the league: 2673 minutes played, an average of 10,446 km run per game (third in the team’s ranking), 167 recoveries, 25 shots on target, 10 goalscoring opportunities created, 4 key passes.
But besides numbers, there is much more in Rafa’s season: the captain’s armband that he wore since mid-December, the 200th match with the Nerazzurri shirt on the day of Real Madrid-Atalanta, his first call-up to Italy in March and his debut for the national team against Lithuania, and, finally, the fresh call up to the Azzurri squad for Euro2020. And off the pitch, he became a father for the second time with the birth of Leonardo in October.
