The 2020-2021 season was the first in the Nerazzurri outfit for Aleksey Miranchuk who stood out for a unique record: not only did he score at least one goal in all the competitions in which he participated, he did that in his debut matches. Overall he played 31 games in all competitions (25 in Serie A TIM, 3 in the UEFA Champions League, 3 in the Italian Cup), scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists.
As mentioned, he scored on his debut with the Atalanta shirt in all three competitions: he started in the Champions League by sealing the 4-0 away victory at Midtjylland, then in Serie A with the very important goal of the 1-1 home draw against Inter, finally in the Coppa Italia Round of 16, breaking the deadlock in the 3-1 home win against Cagliari. The Russian attacking midfielder was also decisive in the Cup quarter-finals by scoring the winner in the 3-2 victory over Lazio. The official statistics of the Serie A League about the league say that: he played 745 minutes, run an average of 5.22 km per game, had 17 shots, created 9 goalscoring chances, 5 key passes, recovered 23 balls, suffered 20 fouls.
At the end of the season, Miranchuk was also named in the Russia squad to participate in the next European Championships. He also won the ‘Player of the Month’ award for January, as he was voted as the best player for that month by the Nerazzurri fans on our official social channels.
