Gian Piero Gasperini spoke at a press conference ahead of Atalanta’s first home game of the 2022-2023 Serie A TIM season, which will be against Milan. The matchday 2 fixture is scheduled for Sunday 21 August at 20:45 CEST at the Gewiss Stadium: “We have an important game ahead of us, a high-level clash. But our goals do not depend on the outcome of this match. We will do everything to play our best game. We will have to wait for about ten games before we can assess the league. We hope there will be a turnaround in home results compared to last year, even if Milan are not exactly the easiest opponent”.

He then made a comment on Milan: “Last year they deservedly won the league. Right now they are a model for what they have shown on and off the pitch, for the quality of the game they have developed, for the way they have won games, after signing valuable young players and having to do without very important players. They play attacking football and score a lot of goals”.
