The Women’s Under-17 team also kicked off their new season as the squad met up this afternoon at the Campo Sportivo Comunale “Valfregia” in Trezzo sull’Adda and began their pre-season according to the Italian Football Federation’s Protocol.
Michele Frigerio, in his fifth season at Atalanta, has been confirmed at the helm of the young Atalanta women’s team. The group is mainly made up of players born in 2007 who made it to the U15 national finals last season, with the addition of some girls born in 2006. “The goal – explains coach Frigerio – is to develop these girls and then give them the chance to get as high as possible and perhaps enter the professional ranks. The results will be a consequence. On 4 September we will compete in the Tournament ‘Le Rose del Moscato’ in which we will be able to prove ourselves against important teams such as Milan and Orobica. As far as the championship is concerned, the formula will change with a shorter regional phase and the interregional phase will begin in February, with the national final-8 in June. It will therefore be even more stimulating and educational for the girls, as the level will be higher and they will be able to measure themselves against important teams”.
