Atalanta U19s win the Cairo Memorial

Coach Fioretto’s Atalanta Under-19s win the 1st edition of the “Memorial Mamma e Papà Cairo” Memorial Trophy. The Nerazzurri defeated Milan 6-5 on penalties at the Stadio Moccagatta in Alessandria after extra time ended 1-1.

Atalanta were trailing by one goal but the Rossoneri went down to ten men within the opening minutes and Fisic brought things level just before half-time. It was all square even after extra time, therefore a penalty shootout was needed to award the trophy: all players converted the penalties until Pardel parried one (the fifth kick) and Perez did not miss the final one, bringing the cup to Bergamo. It was Pardel himself who eventually also won the tournament’s best player award.
