The press conference that officially introduced Atalanta’s new Head of Sport Lee Congerton and new Sporting Director Tony D’Amico was held on the evening of Wednesday 22 June, at 18 CEST. The two directors addressed the media in the conference room of the Favini Academy in Zingonia.
Atalanta’s Chief Executive Officer Luca Percassi welcomed and presented the two Nerazzurri directors: “Their football history is important. We are convinced these two professionals can coexist and make Atalanta grow. It was right and proper to present our two new directors to the media and the public a few days before the start of the new football season”. Percassi then explained the club’s choices: “We chose Lee [Congerton] to expand Atalanta’s project internationally. Football has changed and is changing, we have to be more and more attentive to what is happening in the outside world. We chose Tony [D’Amico] because we believe he is a young professional but at the same time expert in the national market and the dynamics of a team”.
Lee Congerton, Atalanta’s new Head of Sport, claimed: “I am very happy to be here. It is important for Atalanta that we work together as one. Tony [D’Amico] is younger than me, but we are very strong together, we are experienced. Football is football, in my opinion, no matter the league”. Then it was the turn of Tony D’Amico, the Nerazzurri’s new Sporting Director, who said: “I am delighted to have joined this ‘family’, as the club owners like to call it. This is a new opportunity for me right now, a new challenge that is difficult yet exciting. I have always appreciated Atalanta, they have been a role model for Italian football over the last few years”.
