It will be an unprecedented Serie A schedule, as the World Cup Qatar 2022 is to take place right in the middle of the season.
The new Serie A season kicks off on the weekend of 14 August. There will be 7 matchdays (with the mid-week fixture scheduled for 31 August) before the first international break, which is to take place from 19 September to 27 September. Then the teams will meet regularly till matchday 15, which is scheduled for 13 November (with a mid-week fixture on 9 November). Afterwards, there will be a 52-day break for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (the international players competing in the World Cup will leave on Sunday 13 November) and the Christmas holidays, therefore the action will be shut down till 4 January, when the Serie A season is to resume from matchday 16.
Starting from 8 January, the teams will be back in action at the weekends till matchday 27 (19 March), as the final international break is scheduled for the following weekend. So, the league actions will resume again in April with no more breaks till the end of the season. There will be only one mid-week match from that date on, which is scheduled for 3 May, till the final matchday on 4 June.
