The 2021/22 season is not yet considered over for the most part of the squad. Plenty of Atalanta players, more precisely 13, will be involved in international competitions and friendlies.
Matteo Pessina joined Italy to compete in the prestigious CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions. The 2022 “Finalissima”, which is scheduled for 1 June at 20:45 CEST, will see the European Champions, Italy, take on Copa América winners, Argentina. It will be a ‘derby’ for Juan Musso, who has been called up to the Albiceleste. Giorgio Scalvini will join the Azzurri for the Nations League. Italy are in Group C with Germany, Hungary and England. The first fixture of the tournament, which is against Germany, is scheduled for Saturday 4 June with kick-off at 20:45 CEST.
The Orange, Hans Hateboer and Teun Koopmeiners, are also to compete in the Nations League facing Belgium, Poland and Wales twice. The opening match, which will see the Netherlands take on Belgium, is on Friday 3 June at 20:45 CEST.
Meanwhile, Albania with Berat Djimsiti visit Iceland on Monday 6 June at 20:45 CEST, within the Nations League campaign too, then host Israel and, finally, play in a home friendly against Estonia.
The Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain and again Portugal – these are the opponents of Remo Freuler‘s Switzerland, starting from Thursday 2 June at 20:45 CEST. Valentin Mihaila has also been called up to Romania to face Montenegro twice (the first match is on Saturday 4 June at 20:45 CEST), Bosnia and Finland in the Nations League. Merih Demiral‘s Turkey host the Faroe Islands on Saturday 4 June at 20:45 CEST before they visit Lithuania and Luxembourg to get back home and take on Lithuania again.
Mæhle and Pašalić have been drawn in the same group and will go head-to-head as Denmark play Croatia on Tuesday 1o June at 20:45 CEST. Joakim’s Denmark are also to face France (Friday 3 June at 20:45 CEST) and Austria beforehand and, after the clash with Croatia, the Danish side will again take on Austria. On the other hand, Mario’s Croatia play Austria (Friday 3 June at 20:45 CEST), France, Denmark and again France in this order.
The Ivorians with Jérémie Boga will play in the qualifiers for the next Africa Cup and will have fixtures against Zambia (Friday 3 June at 21:00 CEST) and Lesotho (Monday 9 June at 21:00 CEST), as they are in Group H.
Last but not least, Ruslan Malinovskyi will fight for a spot in the World Cup Qatar 2022 as Ukraine are scheduled to visit Scotland in Glasgow on Wednesday 1 June at 20:45 CEST. Should they win, they will have a fixture against Wales on Sunday 5 June. Ukraine will also play in the Nations League where they are to take on Ireland, Armenia and Ireland again. The opening match is on Wednesday 8 June at 20:45 CEST.
