U18s into the Viareggio Cup semifinals

Giovanni Bosi’s U18s have qualified for the penultimate fixture of the 2022 Viareggio Cup as they reached the semifinals after beating Genoa 2-1 at the Stadio Masini in Santa Croce sull’Arno.

Bosi’s lads were close to taking the lead in the first half but the game was decided in the second half. Vavassori (born in 2005) broke the deadlock in the 56th minute. Stabile doubled Atalanta’s lead a few minutes afterwards, scoring his fifth goal in the last three matches of the tournament. Genoa pulled one back from the penalty spot and pushed hard for the last 30 minutes searching for an equaliser, but the Nerazzurri managed to keep their lead.

The semifinal against Sassuolo (who defeated Fiorentina 2-1) is scheduled for Monday 28 March with the kick-off at 14 CEST at the Stadio Torrini in Sesto Fiorentino (the live broadcast will be available on Rai Sport).
