In the late kick-off of matchday 27 of the 2021-2022 Serie A TIM, Atalanta beat Sampdoria at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Pašalić, Koopmeiners (brace) and Miranchuk with the goals.
Malinovskyi picked up an injury during the warm-up, but Pašalić only took six minutes to break the deadlock with a diving header on Freuler’s cross from the right. Koopmeiners doubled Atalanta’s lead at the half-hour mark, as he burst into the box and fired into the far bottom corner assisted by Pessina. Despite being 2-0 up, the Nerazzurri kept pushing hard and almost made it 3-0 through Pašalić, who nodded inches wide.
The second half opened up with Boga’s great strike parried by Falcone (on 51 minutes) and Pessina’s header straight at the goalkeeper. Pessina saw another of his efforts saved by Falcone in the 55th minute and Musso parried Caputo’s snapshot on 59 minutes. Two minutes later and Caputo had another attempt, but this time his strike was off target. On the other hand, Koopmeiners didn’t miss in the 61st minute: the Dutch midfielder was assisted by Miranchuk to bag a brace on his 24th birthday and make it 3-0. Pašalić almost added a fourth on 75 minutes with a strike off the post. At the other end, Conti hit the outside of the post in the 82nd minute. Miranchuk found his way onto the scoresheet in the 86th minute, when he beat Falcone with a wonderful left-foot finish to seal the 4-0 victory.
