In the 2nd round of the 2021-2022 Serie A TIM, the first one at the Gewiss Stadium, Atalanta draw 0-0 at home against Bologna despite having had a lot of chances, especially in the second half.

The first half saw Bologna attack through Orsolini on 4 minutes, who fired over from close range. Atalanta immediately responded to that through Malinovskyi, whose angled drive flashed just wide. Minutes later, Iličić came really close to giving us the lead as his finish was inches wide. After that, Muriel cut inside and fired a shot that was straight at Skorupski. In the meantime, Bologna had a few corners that were cleared well by the Atlanta defence. On 30 minutes Gosens broke away from a few defenders and hit a rocket, but Skorupski saved it. It was a goalless draw at the end of the first half.

The second half saw Atalanta push hard looking for the lead and it was a siege, as Bologna were clammed up in defence. Muriel tried to surprise Skorupski but hit the side netting after a fantastic move. We were really close to breaking the deadlock again, this time through Gosens, but his rocket was wide. Mæhle tried to give us the lead but his finish in the 73rd minute went over. In the 93rd minute, Pessina’s curler from the edge of the box flashed wide and Piccoli didn’t manage to clinch the ball and score the winner in the 95th minute. After a lot of chances for Atalanta, the clash against Bologna ended in a goalless draw and the Nerazzurri now have 4 points on the table.
