Matteo Ruggeri will never forget the 2020-2021 season because he fulfilled his lifelong dream: he’s from Bergamo, he’s been wearing the Nerazzurri shirt since he was 9 years old and he finally made his debut in the first team: he played 8 matches in all competitions (6 in Serie A TIM and 2 in the UEFA Champions League).
He made his debut on November 3 in the Champions League match against Liverpool at the Gewiss Stadium by replacing Mojica in the last minutes of the game. Few days later, on November 8 he played his first Serie A match as a starter: it ended in a draw against Inter in Bergamo. He played two more matches as a starter, at the beginning of the second round against Lazio and Torino. He made his second Champions League appearance against Midtjylland at the Gewiss Stadium again.
Then the official Serie A statistics about the league: 218 minutes played, 6,591 km run on average per game, 1 key pass and 8 balls recovered. Matteo also won the Supercoppa together with the Primavera team as they beated Fiorentina 3-1 at the end of January.
