The 2020-2021 Serie A TIM season ended with the final third place of coach Gasperini’s Nerazzurri, the best-ever finish in the Atalanta history for the third season in a row.
It was another satisfying campaign, as there were many reasons to rejoice, like qualifying for the UEFA Champions League with one round to spare and matched records: the one for points (78), for total wins (23), at home (12) and away (11). With 90 goals scored, Atalanta confirmed themselves to be the best attack of Serie A for the third consecutive year: the average was 2,37 goals scored per game.
As per usual, Lega Serie A presented the official statistics of the end of the season collected thanks to the data of Netco Sports. This data shows that Gasperini’s team is the only one to have had better ball possession on average in the opposing half of the field (15’14) than his own (13’06). According to official data, Atalanta is also first in the assists ranking (64) and second in the shooting ranking (581 total, 279 on goal, 193 off target). Other data: 355 crosses made (155 of which are useful), 83 saves, an average of 109,258 km run per game, 15 between posts and crossbars hit and 13 conceded, 201 corners taken, 57 offsides, 8 headers, 94’50 average playing time of which 53’18 of effective time, 28’20 of average ball possession per game.
