He scored the second goal for Atalanta, the one that effectively put the game against Benevento to bed. Mario Pašalić, in the 67th minute, eight minutes after coming off the bench, finished the move created with Miranchuk and Zapata, giving Atalanta a 2-0 lead: “My goal? It was more important to win”. Here is the interview with the Croatian midfielder.
“It’s more important to win in the end. I’m happy with the goal, but even more with the win, as these three points are very important for our goal”.
You celebrated a lot with Duván Zapata, as he provided you with the assist.
“Yes, he made a good assist, but also Aleksey Miranchuk, who saw me. He heard me when I asked him to let me through. They both did a great job”.
Mario, you had to win and that’s what you did. This match wasn’t easy, as Benevento came to Bergamo aiming to get points for their safety.
“Yes. There are no easy games, especially now that we’re at the end of the season. They’re in a bad situation and they came here to fight. They played well and defended well, but we managed to score in the end and we deservedly won”.
Is there anything that surprises you about this Atalanta side?
“I don’t know. Every year we show everybody that we can do something extra. I’m very happy to be a part of this squad, of this club, who are doing great things”.
