Lyon, Primavera’s next UEFA Youth League round of 16 opponents reached the knockout stages by progressing from Group G first and playoffs then. The tie is scheduled for Tuesday 3rd March at 13 CET at the Bortolotti Centre in Zingonia. In Group G, the French side coached by Eric Hely classified in second place with 12 points, three points less than Benfica, the group winners. Four wins, two defeats, 13 goals scored and 10 conceded for Lyon, that managed to beat 2-1 the Portuguese side away, the only defeat for Benfica. They won the first three matches but got overcome by Benfica in the following three rounds.

They managed to win in the playoffs against Real Zaragoza by performing a comeback and winning 3-1 away, thanks to Gouiri’s brace and Thomas.

Lyon’s topscorer in the league is Cherki, born in 2003, who scored four times out of the three matches he played. He also plays in the First Team: he made his debut in the League 1 in October, aged sixteen, and then made his debut in the Champions League the following month, scoring 3 goals out of 12 appearances.

Lyon U19s got defeated 5-1 at home by Psg in the last round of France Cup last 16, while they won 7-2 in the last round of the league against Bourg en Bress. They sit in third place with 28 points after 15 matches, behind Metz (29) and Sochaux (31).
