It was a super evening for Pierluigi Gollini, one of those to remember. It wasn’t the first since he has worn the Nerazzurri shirt, but the one at the Allianz Stadium in Turin will certainly have a special place in our goalkeeper’s scrapbook. He definitely contributed to the 1-1 draw against the Italian champions Juventus. And not only for the penalty he saved from Cristiano Ronaldo, his first in Serie A and in the Atalanta shirt: intuition, coldness and timing, he chose the right angle and also managed to block the Portuguese champion’s shot. All of that at a crucial moment in the game, just minutes after Freuler’s equaliser.
But that wasn’t the only save to tell his grandchildren one day. The Nerazzurri goalkeeper also put his face into it, in the most literal sense of the word, to block Morata. And when only a sense of position was not enough, he used his cat-like reflexes to deny the Spanish forward again. And then again with his feet to parry Danilo or flying high in the sky on the Bianconeri shots. In short, it was a real SuperGollo evening.
