Winning in Amsterdam and reaching the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 for the second time in a row, winning at the end of a difficult year and for this reason Remo Freuler’s dedication is special: “A win for us and for Bergamo”. Here is the interview with him.

“It’s a great win. It’s a great satisfaction for all of us, for the whole club and for all Bergamo, because we suffered a lot. So, tonight’s win is for all of us and for all of you in Bergamo”.

Last year we were celebrating in Kharkiv, while this year we’re celebrating in Amsterdam. Two campaigns, two appearances and two different groups.

“We want to celebrate once at home, but the last match is always away. It’s okay anyway. We go home with three points and we’re among the best teams in Europe for the second season in a row. It’s mega stuff”.

What has changed compared to last year? Are you more mature, have you improved, are you more experienced or are you more aware of yourself?

“A bit of everything. Everyone has improved, we’re more experienced. We were really careful defensively tonight. I remember just one chance from Klaassen, maybe. Everyone has had a great game, we had great desire to go through and we managed to do so, hence we’re very happy”.

Remo, three wins out of three away matches: the first one was to break the ice and the other two were against two strong teams, Liverpool and Ajax.

“Yes, this group wasn’t easy, as we had Liverpool who are one of the strongest teams in Europe and then Ajax, who reached the semi-final two years ago. And then we had Midtjylland, who are strong physically, but they had a bad start. So it wasn’t easy to go through, but we managed to do so. I can’t say anything else, because we’re very happy to have qualified for the round of 16”.
